In its Winter 2008 issue, On Wisconsin follows Yosemite Park ranger Eric Gabriel '88 on a daring nighttime descent of El Capitan, one of the tallest cliffs in the world. Standing twice the height of the Sears Tower, "the Captain" is a magnet for rock climbers around the globe. But when one of them became stranded three-quarters of the way up - with two broken legs - Gabriel had to bring him safely back to ground.
